MOTIVATIONAL SEMINAR BY the ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation – Friday 22ND JUNE, 2012
Gaborone, 20th June, 2012 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will this Friday, 22nd June, 2012, visit Moshupa Boys Prison in the Southern District. The activity of the day will be a motivational seminar with presentations by stakeholders on matters relating and affecting the youth and a football game between the inmates and MOFAIC staff.
The theme for the day is, “Thriving Towards New Beginnings”, which aims at enlightening the young prisoners to appreciate challenges that affect young people in Botswana like unemployment, poverty etc that might lead to them to be in conflict with the law. There will be presentations by MOFAIC, LEA and Spiritual Leaders before the football game.
We believe that a visit of this nature, however modest, will go a long way in instilling a sense of hope and belonging, as well as inspire the inmates to be better members of the community once they are freed.
This is part of the Ministry’s Programme to Contribute to Causes of Common Good or in the local case, Community Service. At the start of the Programme last year, the Ministry conducted litter picking exercises in Old Naledi, visited and donated to S’brana Psychiatric Hospital, visited and donated full school uniform to Polokwe Primary School students, as well as engaging in three key activities at Thuto Boswa Rehabilitation Centre in Ramotswa, where the Ministry also donated five Computers.
