a) Howard University Howard University and The Women Ambassadors Foundation awarded her The Community Outreach Award on Tuesday April 17, 2012.
b) University of the District of Columbia 160th Anniversary Medal. Other Honorees at the occasion were: Honorable Vincent C. Gray – Mayor of The District of Columbia, Ms. Barbara Lang – President and CEO of DC Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Jim Dinear – President and CEO of Washington Board of Trade and Ms. Michele V. Hagans – President & CEO, Fort Lincoln New Toon Corporation. The award was on Friday May 18, 2012.
c) Morgan State University, Baltimore - Maryland On Saturday May 19, 2012 The Ambassador was honored with an Honorary Doctor of Laws. Professor of Law at University of Maryland, Dr. Larry S. Gibson was also awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws and at the same event, Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, the First African-American Woman to get a Doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science. Morgan State University is the Ambassador’s Alma Mater where she obtained her BSc [Accounting] and BA [Economics] in 1978.
d) St. George’s University (SGU) On June 9th, 2012 SGU awarded The Ambassador an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters. The Ceremony was held at School of Medicine, in New York City at Lincoln Center. The Embassy wishes to share these with the Public as they are seen as earned on behalf of the people of Botswana and as strengthening the relationship between Botswana, the said institutions and the United States. |
